Professional experience as an SJW is a transformative part of the program. Each volunteer will serve in an area nonprofit organization that is related to the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Current placement opportunities are described below. Healthcare and Public Health

Catholic Charities • Nursing Case Manager

As a Nursing Case Manager, you are responsible for nursing case management services assisting clients with access to supportive services and helping clients set goals for themselves. You’re able to work effectively with clients with complex psychosocial concerns including mental health issues, unstable housing, unemployment, dysfunctional relationships, and legal concerns. This position involves working from a primary office location, but includes 5-6 client home visits each month.

St Mary’s Health Clinic • Clinic Operations Partner

As the Clinic Operations Partner, serve uninsured and underinsured people in clinic services and operations in a variety of ways, including Spanish language interpreting, supporting staff and patients during clinic visits, and/or providing administrative support with assigned projects and tasks promoting clinic functions and efficiency.

Gichitwaa Kateri

As an Outreach Coordinator with Gichitwaa Kateri, build relationships with local outreach organizations in the neighborhood that serve the native community, assist in building a handbook of a variety of resources and provide navigation guidance to help individuals find the care they need.

In this position focusing on systemic change and building communities of informed action, the St. Joseph Worker will engage in reflecting, educating, relationship building, partnering, advocating and acting for justice.  This work transforms ourselves and challenges interlocking systems of oppression in order to promote systemic change.

 Celeste’s Dream Food Justice/Food Insecurity/Urban Agriculture

This position with Celeste’s Dream and the St. Catherine University Food Insecurity Project focuses on the St. Kate’s/CSJ Food Shelf coordination, Food Insecurity Project (FIP) programming, weekly community garden night gatherings and collaborative program development around topics of  sustainability, food insecurity and homelessness.

Sarah’s…an Oasis for Women provides hospitality for women in transition who are seeking housing, community and safety. This position works directly with women, connecting them with community resources and supporting them in reaching their goals.

Haven Housing • Activities Coordinator

Serve as an Activities Coordinator with Haven, creating, planning, promoting and facilitating on site and off site activities that fit residents’ needs. Serving also with the case management team to provide support for the residents, women and children experiencing homelessness, and assisting in coordinating family activities, parenting classes, educational groups and holiday activities.

Serve as Intake Coordinator within Ascension Place of Haven Housing to provide support for the residents and their goal plans, educate prospective residents, case managers, and other stakeholders about Haven Housing mission and the scope of services and complete resident admission paperwork.

Cornerstone

The Cornerstone Day One Call Center Hotline Advocate is responsible for responding to victims/survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, human trafficking/sexual exploitation, and/or general crime, via phone, text, email or chat messaging. The CC Hotline Advocate utilizes trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and culturally responsive practices to provide contacts with referrals, information, support, advocacy, and safety planning. provides hospitality for women in transition who are seeking housing, community and safety. Project for Pride in Living• Child Enrichment Specialist

In this position as Child Enrichment Specialist, create, plan, and facilitate enrichment activities with children birth to 8th grade. Serve also, facilitating an early childhood developmental survey, coordinate with volunteer coordinators to bring in volunteers, and facilitate a parent/child group birth to toddler.

As a Community Outreach Coordinator, creatively engage PPL’s community members and solicit their input on various development projects and initiatives, and assist project managers with other community involvement activities to further PPL’s mission of building the hope, assets, and self-reliance of individuals and families who have lower incomes by providing transformative affordable housing and employment readiness services.

As the lead of a group of volunteers and staff making up the hospitality team, you will help ensure that clients of the St. Paul Opportunity Center are well connected with available resources. In the spirit of compassion, friendliness and with a warm welcome, you will encourage and empower clients in their personal growth and stability.

The Lift Garage offers people a vehicle out of poverty by providing free or low-cost quality car repair, offering skilled job training in the field of auto mechanics and connecting with community partners to strengthen the support network. At Cretin Derham Hall, serve the students and community as part of the campus Ministry team, engaging in group service projects, justice programming throughout the year, serving as a mentor to justice groups on campus, helping plan and lead liturgies and be involved in retreat and specialized projects based on need and your unique skills.
