Professional experience as an SJW is a transformative part of the program. Each volunteer will serve in an area nonprofit organization that is related to the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Current placement opportunities are described below. St Mary’s Health Clinic • Clinic Operations Partner

As the Clinic Operations Partner, serve uninsured and underinsured people in clinic services and operations in a variety of ways, including Spanish language interpreting, supporting staff and patients during clinic visits, and/or providing administrative support with assigned projects and tasks promoting clinic functions and efficiency.

Open Arms of Minnesota • General Operations Associate

With Open Arms, a nonprofit that cooks and delivers free, nutritious meals to people living with life-threatening illnesses in the Twin Cities, serve in many integral daily activities and in aspects of the organization, including: shifts preparing and packaging meals in the kitchen, delivering meals to clients, hosting delivery driver volunteers, client services projects and gardening at the farm plot.

This position as Operations Coordinator focuses on food shelf coordination, food recovery facilitation, addressing food insecurity issues, weekly community garden night gatherings and collaborative program development around topics of sustainability, food insecurity and homelessness.

Sarah’s…an Oasis for Women provides hospitality for women in transition who are seeking housing, community and safety. This position works directly with women, connecting them with community resources and supporting them in reaching their goals.

CornerstoneCommunity Services Advocate

As a Community Services Advocate, provide intensive individual advocacy and case management services to support victims and survivors as they work toward safety and economic stabilization. Focus on assisting participants with reducing barriers and increasing access to needed community supports,  assisting with safety planning, accessing/maintaining stable housing and income supports, building assets, and retaining or advancing in employment.

Project for Pride in Living• Donations and Engagement Coordinator

As a Community Outreach Coordinator, creatively engage PPL’s community members and solicit their input on various development projects and initiatives, and assist project managers with other community involvement activities to further PPL’s mission of building the hope, assets, and self-reliance of individuals and families who have lower incomes by providing transformative affordable housing and employment readiness services.

CornerstoneCivil/Criminal Justice Intervention Advocate 

As a Civil/Criminal Justice Intervention Advocate, provide civil and criminal legal advocacy services to victim/survivor of domestic abuse sexual assault and human trafficking in a knowledgeable, empathetic manner. Service includes: crisis support and information regarding next steps in criminal or civil court, assist victim/survivors in civil court proceedings such as Orders for Protection and Harassment Restraining Order hearings and advocate for victim/survivors through the criminal justice process.

As the lead of a group of volunteers and staff making up the hospitality team, you will help ensure that clients of the St. Paul Opportunity Center are well connected with available resources. In the spirit of compassion, friendliness and with a warm welcome, you will encourage and empower clients in their personal growth and stability.

The Lift Garage offers people a vehicle out of poverty by providing free or low-cost quality car repair, offering skilled job training in the field of auto mechanics and connecting with community partners to strengthen the support network. Wisdom Ways Center for Spirituality

Wisdom Ways Center for Spirituality creates open, accepting spaces that advance the spiritual growth, authenticity, and fullness of life for all people. Serve with them to help organize, promote, and facilitate diverse programs both in person and on the Zoom platform, interacting with presenters and members of the community to develop the programming calendar. Work with resources, courses and help to maintain Wisdom Ways’ body of resources including the library and the labyrinths.

At Cretin Derham Hall, serve the students and community as part of the campus Ministry team, engaging in group service projects, justice programming throughout the year, serving as a mentor to justice groups on campus, helping plan and lead liturgies and be involved in retreat and specialized projects based on need and your unique skills.
